Thirty-two year 5 and 6 teams from the Eastern Bay of Plenty schools entered into the Horizon 7’s sports tournament.
Paroa School was the standout school winning the rugby sevens, basketball and year 6 netball and also gaining silver medals in the year 5 netball.
Opotiki school year 5 team took gold in the netball while St Joseph’s Whakatane won the football. The children’s attitudes were commendable and enjoyed being able to mix it up with kids from other schools within the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Representatives from Horizon attended all venues to observe the skills on display and present medals to first, second and third-placed teams.
Thanks to Horizon for their continued support, BOP Rugby, Eastern BOP Rugby, Whakatane Netball Centre and Netball BOP who officiated on the day.
Whakatane Intermediate for the venue and Trident High School for the volunteers that assisted with the four events, your hard work towards yet another Eastern Bay of Plenty primary school event is greatly appreciated.
