Most helpful newspaper
The AC Nielson survey* on the four newspapers in our region found that the Whakatane Beacon was the most helpful newspaper when deciding where to shop and what to buy.
For most stores and products measured, purchasers said that the Whakatane Beacon was the most helpful.
For home appliances for instance, 51% of those polled considered the Beacon most helpful. The other three newspapers shared the balance.

Average Reader Time
The Whakakatane Beacon enjoyed the longest reading time of any of the local newspapers. The average issue reading time was 15 minutes, which is excellent when compared with reading times nationwide.
Single Issue Reach
The Whakatane Beacon is most often read on a Friday with 73% of respondents reading this issue. Both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s issues reach slightly fewer people with 71% and 70% respectively.
