Whakatane is the 'heartbeat' of the Eastern Bay of Plenty which has flourishing industrial, tourism and dairying interests and is a district known for its natural beauty and resources.
The Whakatane Beacon is most often read on a Friday with 73% of respondents reading this issue. Both Tuesday's and Wednesday's issues reach slightly fewer people with 71% and 70% respectively. Cumulative weekly reach is 88% of all persons aged 15+.
The AC Nielsen report showed that the people who are more likely to read
an average issue of the Whakatane Beacon are:
• the main household shopper
• higher income earners
• middle-aged and upwards
The Whakatane Beacon is a broadsheet publication printed three times a week, on Tuesday and Wednesday with a cover price of 40 cents (40 cents rural delivery) and on Friday for 50 cents (45 cents rural delivery). Current industry figures put circulation at 8412.
The Beacon Printing and Publishing Company also produces and publishes the Bay Weekend, a tabloid newspaper delivered free every Saturday into every home in the greater Eastern Bay including Te Puke and surrounding areas, and also the Opotiki News which is published twice weekly on a Tuesday and Thursday.
We also print the Waitomo News, the local newspaper for the Te Kuiti/Otorohanga region and various other supplementary advertising material.
